Project Profile

The museum collection of Russian House of Art-Deco is formed in following directions:

  • Russian academic painting of the XIX century,
  • Works of the artists of the Silver Age (at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries),
  • Painting of the Russian avant-garde of the beginning of the XX century,
  • Work of the artists of the Russian emigration.

Besides, widely presented are the works of the French impressionism and postimpressionism, avant-garde directions of the European painting, namely, fauvism, expressionism, dadaism, surrealism. For the first time (after Schukin and Morozov collections) the works of the European painting of museum level are available to the Russian spectator.

A considerable part of the collection consists of the sculptures of bronze and ivory in the Art-Deco style made in the1920-1930s by the European masters inspired by performances of the ballet troupe “Russian Seasons” by Sergey Dyaghilev. These works reflect all degree of influence of the Russian art on the European artists of the first quarter of the XX century.
